The Esoteric Basis Of Christianity By William Kingsland
The Esoteric Basis Of Christianity or Theosophy and Christian Doctrine By William Kingsland
Publishing: 1895 by The Theosophical Publishing Society
William Kingsland was an important figure early in the Theosophy movement. He began his career as an engineer and scientist, and after stumbling upon A.P. Sinnetts The Occult World, and Esoteric Buddhism, Kingsland found himself attending Sinnetts weekly meetings that were held at his own home. Very shortly after, Kingsland had the honor of meeting Blavatsky in person and eventually becoming President of the Blavatsky Lodge for less than a year, splitting ways after disagreements with Annie Besant. When Kingsland first came across Theosophy, he said “Theosophy struck a chord to which my inmost nature immediately responded.” ULTRA RARE
Condition: Very Good / spine has minor shelf-wear / hardcover itself has very minor wear / extremely minimal marking of text (in pencil)
“But as man has fallen, so he must also rise; and his final triumph over evil, or Satan, or matter–for the three are synonymous–is foreshadowed in the type of the Messiah, and fully represented in the New Testament by the resurrected Christ. “For as in Adam all die, so also in the Christ shall all be made alive.” (I. Cor, xv. 22.) Do you suppose this refers to mere physical death? It does so apply on the lowest or physical plane of consciousness, but–”as above so below.” There is a spiritual death as well as a physical; but they are only synonymous inasmuch as every mystery in ‘heaven’ is repeated on ‘earth’ ; and they are not coincident.” - William Kingsland The Esoteric Basis Of Christianity
